 THURSDAY AFTERNOON

BY BETH RINYU

SYNOPSIS

I’m just your typical working girl who never mixes business with pleasure. Although some may say my business is all about pleasure. For the past four years, I’ve allowed my profession to define me, distancing myself from family, friends and most of all love. Hating the reflection I see staring back at me in the mirror, I muddle through each day with my heart sealed off like a tomb, until two strangers enter my life.

One teaching me the true meaning of friendship.

The other teaching me the true meaning of love.

She’s everything I’m not.

Humble, loving, and devoting her life to others.

We’re an unlikely duo who are polar opposites, but at the same time so alike.

Never in a million years could I be friends with someone like her…until I was.

Then there’s him.

He’s my Thursday afternoon client.

Just like all the others: handsome, rich and charming…yet so very different.

Trying to overcome a painful past, he seeks out my services as a refuge, only to find that we’re opening our hearts to each other in ways that neither of us could’ve imagined.

I could never fall in love with someone like him…until I did.

And now I’m finding myself longing for it to be Thursday afternoon all week long.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 REVIEW by Beckie

I loved this book…..took me a leisurely Thursday afternoon to read it!

Bree is such a great character, real and raw dealing with such a taboo topic for her employment. Then she meets Thursday afternoon and her whole world spins on its axis and she questions everything she thinks she stands for.

Simon is a story of many emotions and a history that adds to his story and finds himself crossing paths with Bree. You’re rooting for him and Bree to become something amazing.

I loved the relationship that emerged between Hannah and Bree, 2 polar opposite people that want to find the root of the same thing….love, but for different reasons. I love Hannah’s non-judgemental out look on life….so refreshing! I also love her occupation…..something you’d never think of and gets you thinking about her story a little more.

Jack is a show stealer….the ending encompasses all you wish for throughout the book.

Paul, Trey, Macy (too cute) and Bree’s dad all add depth and you understand each of their sides to the story and their reasons behind it. There were other characters that made the story too such as Margo but you don’t like!

This book had it all now love, trust, heartache and a fab ending. Beautiful and profound words….’Everytime it snows, it’s a new opportunity to experience that beauty again….life is about second chances. May you be each others new fallen snow.’

EXCERPT

“You’re my new-fallen snow, Simon.”

He stared down at me in confusion.

My thumbs skimmed the sides of his face, with the glow of the moon providing just enough light to make out his perfect features. “Each new-fallen snow is a second chance to get it right. Thank you for giving me the chance to prove not only to you, but to myself that I’m more than who I once was.”

“You’re so much more.” His voice was low and hoarse. “God, I didn’t think it was possible to want you any more than I already did, but you never cease to amaze me.”

He had a right to remain suffocated by his pain.
She had a right to remain silent about hers.

For better or for worse.
Those were the vows that I had taken with my wife six years ago. We had lived through the better and were barely getting through the worse. I tried to face our loss together, while she chose to have an affair instead.
Time apart was what we both needed.
What I didn’t expect in that time was her.
The beauty she possessed on the outside was a far cry from the scars she was harboring on the inside. She wasn’t looking for love and neither was I. She just needed someone to help her deal with the pain she had been carrying around for the past two years, and I was happy to oblige.
I wasn’t supposed to fall in love with her, but suddenly I was seeing a future that I never dreamed of right in front of my eyes….only to find that the past had other things in mind for us.
***
I always believed that we only got one true love in life, and mine was gone and never coming back.
Through the tear-filled nights and never ending days, I was slowly and tortuously coming to terms with the pain that was my reality.
And then he entered my life.
Tall, handsome, genuine and caring, he was a friend when I needed one most. Together, we were a temporary fix to our own permanent pain. Just two people helping each other to get through a very dark period in life.
But when the light begins to shine ever so slightly with each passing day, and his face is all I can see at the end of that tunnel…..do I run back into the darkness or move into the light with him?

ABOUT AUTHOR

BETH RINYU

Ever since I can remember, I have always enjoyed Creative Writing. There was always something about being able to travel to a different place or become a different person with just the stroke of a pen – or in today’s world a touch of the keyboard.

My life is not as interesting as my books or the characters in them, but then again whose life is? I’m a mom of twin teenage boys, a crazy Border Collie and a cat with an identity crisis! I guess you can say writing is my form of Calgon!

Thanks for taking the time to learn about my books and me! If you decide to read them (and I hope you do!) please be sure to go on and review it for me – yes, even if you don’t like it!
