The job should have been easy—patrol a swank beach that serves as a backyard for Maui’s rich, kick out the riffraff, and get a tan in the process. But rent-a-cop Samantha Winters didn’t anticipate a deliciously grumpy cop, Sergeant Grady Roark, who comes down to the beach to bust her chops and instead leaves her breathless…and wondering why the one man who could help her seems determined to thwart her at every turn.

Grady is keeping secrets from Sam that have him walking the line between attraction and duty. But when Sam becomes the target of a shadowy organization, Grady will have to choose between the law and the temptation of a woman who has him breaking every rule he’s ever known.

The job should have been easy, but when the bullets start flying, Sam learns nothing is as easy as it seems when you’re a Gun for Hire.

“Why John Deacon, Sam?” Grady’s hands tightened on the steering wheel.
I threw my hands up. “It could be Jesus Christ himself signing my paycheck and I’d still be doing it for the same reasons! The job works for my family. What is your problem with John Deacon? And don’t tell me nothing—you owe me more than that.”
“Maybe I’m just jealous.” Grady stared ahead. “Like you said.”
My stomach did a loop. “Don’t use your charm on me, I’m immune—”
“You think I’m charming?”
“Hell no, I don’t! And particularly not when you’re avoiding my question.”
“But you said I had charm.” He tilted his head and gave me a long, sly look from the corner of his eyes. His teeth flashed white from that tanned face and I nearly had to fan myself when I realized I loved the feeling of Grady teasing me.
I threw my hands up in the air. “I give up!”
He wanted to talk about confusing? All I knew about Grady prior to this day was that he was six-foot-two of gorgeous and about as warm as a polar bear on the North Pole in January. And now—

Just some fun. Just one night of reckless, harmless, wild fun.

That’s what I told myself the night I hooked up with quite possibly the sexiest guy I’ve ever known. Only, I didn’t want to KNOW him. Life is a series of temporary situations, or so it’s always been for me. A future revolves around the next move, but I’m still the type to live in the moment on a seldom occasion, consequences be damned.

Unless that moment happens to be unknowingly landing in bed with my brand new stepbrother. The universe is a mean, twisted jerk. And one consequence is that I have to be around him and get to know him. The worst consequence is the fact that Maverick Sterling, the infamous playboy who can’t possibly be tamed, is really hard not to want more of once you’ve had a taste. So long as I’m not stupid enough to fall in love, it shouldn’t be a big deal. Right?

My life has been blissfully simple for a really long time. I have a routine. I have friends. I have family. Yet everyone seems to have less and less time, since they’re all sort of trying to be adults or what the hell ever. I blame them for the fact the only girl to ever ditch me without a backward glance is suddenly under my skin. I blame my father for the fact she’s a new fixture in my life. Not that I knew that before I got a little overly friendly with my new stepsister. I mean, what are the odds? It shouldn’t have been possible.

But it happened. It figures the one girl I can’t get out of my head is the one girl who doesn’t want to be with me. At least in my head she’s the only girl who doesn’t want to be with me, because I tend to be arrogant like that. The point is, now she’s everywhere I turn, yet she’s marking a line in the sand that she thinks I really won’t cross.

Obviously she doesn’t know me at all.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 review by Kassa

Damn you CM Owens! I never ever thought you could write a book from Sterling Shore that would manage to make Loving War wobble on its first spot. And I NEVER EVER would have imagined that it would be MAVERICK who lets it wobble.
While reading the other books of Sterling Shore Maverick wasn’t my favorite. I wasn’t even remotely interested in his story, because all he seemed to be was the jokester. Of course he was business savvy like they all are, but it never seemed something more going on in his brain than woman and booze.
Yeah, I couldn’t have been more wrong. This book gave me aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaall the feels. I laughed, I cried, I swooned and I fell in love with Maverick and Salem. I FELT so much while reading this book, I can’t even put it in words. I just KNOW. I don’t want this series to end. I NEED to know how the life of these characters goes on.
The character developments in this book were impressive. I mean, they developed and at the same time we learned what they hid from the others during other books. The REAL person behind the jokes and booze. I loved how the author was able to give Maverick a deepness and side I never would have expected.
Thank you for another great read of the Sterling Shore Series. Only two are left and I really don’t want it to end.

Blog Tour – Ascenders: Omorrow by CL Gaber

Title: Ascenders: Omorrow
(Ascenders Saga) (Volume 3)

Author: CL Gaber | @CLGaber

Expired at seventeen
and living in a middle world for those who died young, Walker Callaghan and her
rebellious love, Daniel Reid, have been tasked with an insurmountable mission:
Find something hidden in the past that will forever change everything for the
living and the dead.
Sent to a place where
a second can mean a lifetime, Walker and Daniel find their existence threatened
as they scour New York City decades to find the lost, secret writings of Albert
Einstein. They are warned, “Die in the past and you will never be born in
the future.”
History has a way of
being rewritten by those who defy the odds. In the third book of the Ascenders
Saga, will Walker manage to survive or delete her own story.

Ascenders: High
School for the Recently Departed (Ascenders #1)
Is this Hell or is this High School?
THE ASCENDERS Book Saga Takes You to the In-between Where Teens
Who Died Young Go On the Epic Adventure of an After-Lifetime
Walker Callaghan doesn’t know what happened to her. One minute she
was living her teenage life in suburban Chicago…and the next minute, she was
in a strange place and in a brand new school with absolutely no homework, no
rules, and no consequences.
Walker Callaghan, 17, is dead.
She doesn’t go to heaven or hell. She lands at The Academy, a
middle realm where teenagers have one thing in common: They were
the morning announcement at their high schools because they died young.
These high school kids are now caught in a strange “in-between”
zone where life hasn’t changed very much.  In fact, this special teen
limbo looks a lot like life in a quaint Michigan town complete with jocks,
popular girls and cliques. “There are even cheerleaders in
death,” Walker observes.  It’s not a coincidence that the
music teacher is a guy named Kurt who “used to have this band.” The
drama teacher, Heath, is crush worthy because back in his life, he starred in
some superhero movie.
Principal King explains the rules — there are none. Why? You
can’t die twice.
There is no homework.
No tests.
You’re just there to learn because the human brain isn’t fully
formed until you’re 24.
By the way, you can’t get hurt physically, so race your Harley off
that hillside. But falling in love is the most dangerous thing you can do
…because no one knows how long you’ll stay in this realm or what’s next.
“Losing someone you love would be like dying twice,”
Walker says.

* * * * * *

Walker Callaghan has just arrived at the Academy after a
tragic car accident. “Is this hell or is this high school?” she asks.
She finds out her new life is a bit of both as she falls in love
with tat-covered, bad boy Daniel Reid who is about to break the
sacred rule of this place. He’s looking for a portal to return
back to the living realm.
He needs just one hour to retrieve his younger brother who
strangely never arrived at The Academy. Bobby is an Earth Bound
Spirit, stuck at a plane crash site that took both of their
lives as their rich father piloted his private jet nose-first into a cornfield
on Christmas Eve.
Walker loves Daniel and risks it all to go with him.
Have they learned enough to outsmart dangerous forces while
transporting a young child with them? Can their love survive the fragmented
evil parts of themselves that are now hunting them down as they try to find a
way back to the middle?
At the Academy, you learn the lessons of an after-lifetime.
Ascenders: Skypunch (Book Two)

In the Midst—a place for those who die
young—there are no rules except one.
And Walker Callaghan, dead at seventeen, just broke it. She
briefly revisited her earthly life . . . and the punishment is
eternal. Longing for her rebel love interest, Daniel Reid, Walker
finds an ally in Cass, whose attraction to her is as alive as he is. “Life
is short,” he tells her. “I’m banking on eternity. With you.”
In the second book of the Ascenders Saga, a
realm-jumping journey takes Walker and Daniel back to life again when they
search for something buried in history. They team with students from
several other schools in the middle realm including a place for
teens born with oddities. It’s home to the Claires . . . beautiful,
ruthless, and quite dead seventeen-year-old quads who each have a
different clairvoyant gift.
Can Walker survive another adventure of
an afterlife-time—or will she find herself on the downside of eternity?

“So, how

“How long

Of course,
he was kidding. Parents didn’t take vacations from their four children

It was called child abandonment and there were laws. Wait, maybe his parents

My next
question would have to wait.
In what
seemed like an instant, my back foot caught on a large fallen tree branch
and I fell
forward with all my body weight. Crashing hard onto my hands and knees, I
cried out,
but I wasn’t in any real pain. Before I could stand up, I slipped again until
slammed against the surface of the thickly iced-over pond. The cracking sound
was like
thunder. Then, in what felt like a sickening surge of broken glass and rushing
water, the
ground suddenly ceased to exist. I didn’t have time to scream as I dropped into
the dark,
lifeless, icy chill of wintery water.
I braced

I struggled to pop up again, but by putting up a fight I only succeeded in
making it
worse. As my body was being carried under the heavy sheet of ice in an

In a way,
it was fascinating to watch him ever so gradually shuffle along as my

that separated us was about five solid inches of deadly winter soup. By the

“Help!” I
I gulped

stood there.
Stood. There.
I maneuvered away from the spot by the trees, which made it worse

But I

My mind raced.

through a thinner spot of ice, he made a small hole and then pummeled it
into a
bigger passage with those clomping boots. Reaching down into the crack, he
offered me
a strong hand and a tat-covered, muscular arm. Somehow through the dark
water, I
saw human fingers moving and grabbed them like they were my only lifelines,
which is
exactly what they were to me.
All it
took was one big hoist and I was in his arms, pressed body-to-body up
him, soaking wet, freezing cold, and mad as hell.
With my
right hand, that had absolutely no feeling in it, I slapped him squarely
across the
jaw as hard as possible. When he didn’t budge much, I slapped him again,
which made
my hand tired, but it didn’t hurt. When I attempted to punch his face, he

Maybe the

He’s a dom, she’s not even a little submissive. It shouldn’t work, but they can’t walk away from each other.

Boundaries will be crossed, trust shattered, secrets revealed. Both need to give up control. Both need to find middle ground.

When it’s easier to walk away, there’s only thing strong enough to bind them together.

Reckless devotion.

🌟🌟🌟🌟 REVIEW by Alexa

Okay, so I am a big fan of GOOD BDSM books and this one definitely qualifies as that! This book had all the elements that I love in a good read – an alpha male, a strong woman who also enjoys alpha males, well written scenes and holy hot and sexy times!

This would have been a 5 star read for me with the exception of the fact that it is basically half a book and ends in a CLIFFHANGER!!! I detest cliffhangers and when I signed up to read the ARC of this one there was no mention of it being a cliffy ending – no bueno for me on that. Not cool – however I see now that the blurb has been amended to state that it is a cliffhanger and that the second book comes out in June… Soooo, if you are like me, I would suggest waiting to read until book 2 comes out and read all together so you don’t get the rage feelings that I am experiencing at the moment – LOL! Just kidding – but seriously it affected my enjoyment of the book as I could see it coming when the book was almost at 100% and there was no ending in sight…

So final thoughts – great book, highly recommend – just hated that it was a cliffhanger. Will be looking for book 2 to see how it all ends!

One day, many months ago, Jennifer Domenico went to sleep and a beautiful love story played out in her dreams.

When she awoke, she felt compelled to write it down. So she did. The result was her first novel, Turn Towards the Sun and a writing career was born.

Ms. Domenico lives in Scottsdale, Arizona with her very Italian husband, a dog that adores her, two cats that tolerate her, and a wicked sweet tooth.
